Been a huge fan since it opened. If you go at lunch, you're best to go before 11:30 am or after 12:30 pm or you may not get a table for a while. The food is fresh, consistently prepared, and delicious, in my opinion. Friends have coaxed me into trying 4-5 other dishes on the menu, but none appeal to me like the Kung Pao Shrimp (gotta eat in; take out gets overcooked and rubbery by the time I get it home), with brown rice, of course (the nuttiness compliments the peanuts in the dish). Also, you will be doing yourself a disservice if you do not get the crab wontons - they are OUT OF THIS WORLD! They are the PERFECT BITE ...actually 4 perfect bites - consistently, ever time I've had them, there is just enough of the yummy cream cheese/shredded crab filling to adequately compliment the crunchiness of the 4 individual corners of the wonton. I'd be happy if this was my last bite before I died. The other really good app is their Vietnamese chicken salad rolls (name is quite deceiving - it's finely-diced chicken, butter lettuce, Napa cabbage, mint, carrots, scallions, peanuts, rice noodles, sweet chile sauce, lime vinaigrette, wrapped in rice paper). Not something I would normally seek out on the menu, but I'm so glad I tried them - they are light, and make you feel less guilty about eating the fried food in your entree.

While the place is well decorated with brigt colors the food is faux Asian. My hot and sour soup arrived cold and was rather bland. The teriyaki chicken with brown rice also tasted just one notch above Leeann Chin's quality. Service is spotty and the table we sat at was dirty. All in all I won't be eating at this place again. I'll stick to Quang's on Nicollet Ave.

I've been an infrequent diner at Pei Wei. There Thai dynamite dish is quite nice when they get the ratios right which is about 80% of the time.

Really pretty good casual branch of PF Chang's. Nice selection of preparations to go with the meat or veggies you select. I had Orange Peel Chicken, which had chunks of chicken (NOT breaded and fried) and veggies in a nicely spicy orange peel sauce. Not too sweet,

I returned to Pei Wei with a group from work the other day and tried the Asian Chopped Salad which, I'm going to go out on a limb and say, wasn't very Asian, but it was a pretty darned good salad either way. The ingredients were all fresh and crisp. The vinaigrette dressing was light and tasty. The chicken was tender and savory. It's a solid choice for someone looking for something a little lighter and subtle when compared to the other stuff on the Pei Wei menu, which can be more on the oily and saucy side.

Delicious, fresh, Asian food for a great price! I usually get the Kung Pao Chicken (steamed) with brown rice and my guy loves their Pad Thai. Most of their dishes have a good mix of protein, veggies and carbs. They also have some gluten free entrees and the option to have your protein steamed. Our food has always been fresh and delicious. If you like PF Changs, but can do without the ambiance, you can cut your lunch/dinner tab in half at this sister restaurant! Great for a casual date!

This is probably the worst Pei Wei in the chain... I haven't been to all of them, or even mor than 10, but it's so bad, I think it's a fair statement. Tables are gross and dirty, the wait just to order is completely unacceptable. I waited 10 minutes... I should e ordered carry out, no wait there... But the carry out cashier can't help the dine-in cashier. People just walking out. I'd say, avoid this place... It's a giant disappointment! My iPad is now stuck to the table... gross!

Been there twice. Not bad not great. Kinda hard to find off of old hwy 212. A little nicer than Leeann Chins but Chins has more flavor.

Service is pleasant and quick here. I like their hot and sour soup, Mongolian beef and crab wontons. The food taste the same as pf chang, just half the price and without the white tablecloth. I really appreciate the staff here. Seriously. There's this middle age man with glasses who is extremely polite. He brings out food, clears the table, ask if we want refills and bags our leftover yet this isn't a full service place. They don't expect tip either but I can't help but leave a few dollars because they are so nice. Anyway, I'm a fan of their mandarin orange ice tea. It's very refreshing. They have the high tech fountain machine at this location too. Their fortune cookies are the best. I always grab more than I really need. If you prefer wine or beer, they have them too.

They have different version of lomein and they make it very delicious, sweet and juicy. I find it unique different and very good. Service is fast and pleasant young servers. The egg rolls is salty.

Excellent food for the price. It isn't PF Chang's but close for half the cost. Easy in and out with kids. Our family goes a few times a month and it's always consistent. Give it a try yourself before reading ornery reviews from upset customers.

Pei Wei is a moderately priced oasis in the Chinese food wasteland we call Eden Prairie. The food here is far above nearly every Americanized Chinese restaurant in Eden Prairie and costs about 2/3 of the price. The menu is pretty straight forward, you pick a dish, protein/veggies, and kind of rice. I'm a fan of the sesame chicken, pei wei spicy, and the sweet and sour. The dishes are always great and you definitely get a good sized portion for what you pay. Are you normally hungry an hour after eating Chinese food? I guarantee that won't be the case here. A meal here would not be complete without their crab wontons, which are a twist on the traditional cream cheese wonton and are served with a sweet chipotle sauce. They're definitely one of my favorite things on the menu. The service is similar to Noodles & Company, order at the counter, get your drink, and the food is brought out to your table. I regularly order their takeout from their website, which can be a little bit confusing but my orders have always come out correct. The only thing that I've had a problem with is that they counter seems to be understaffed. I've come here multiple Saturday nights during the dinner rush and the have had only two people at the counter, one filling orders and one prepping to-go orders. It seems a little inefficient to me and I've seen long lines as a result of this. Overall though, you can't do much better in Eden Prairie.

I cant say I love it, but their teriyaki chicken has me coming back for more. Its still pretty greasy Americanized Chinese food with a bit more substance. I've only ordered take out, you can do that online, which I find extremely convenient, and the website allows you to customize your entree (i.e. no carrots, extra sauce, whatever you want, you can have it). The take out counter is in the back, you can just sneak in, get your food and get out. The restaurant seems to be pretty busy, with a line waiting to be seated during the lunch hour, so if you want to eat in, do it early or later.

I went to Pei Wei in Eden Prairie today, have not been to this restaurant before. Ordered the coconut curry with noodle dish, this is one of my favorites so I've eaten it at a lot of restaurants, lots. The sauce and spice were decent, the green beans and red pepper were fresh and crispy. The noodles were plentiful, but sticky and not good at all, kind of like sticky spaghetti noodles. I've never been to Thailand, but I've been to a lot of authentic Thai restaurants, I'd never had Thai noodles this bad. I would have been happier with the rice. It's probably some of the better food you'll find in the 'burbs, but not great.

My wife and I do not know a lot about Asian food as we both come from an area of the country where it is just difficult to find. Our experiences with that type of cuisine are essentially limited to the dates we had in college, which was in Ames, Iowa... not exactly a place where you would expect to find a ton of Asian cuisine. The Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants in Ames are good, but we didn't know what else there was out there since there wasn't much else to compare it with. Last night, we decided to head out and sample Pei Wei Diner (12561 Castlemoor, Eden Prairie) based on some recommendations and reviews of other Yelpers. We weren't sure what to expect since neither of us know a lot about the Chinese scene in the Twin Cities, but we took an open mind with us as we always do when trying a new place. We were generally pleased with Pei Wei. The atmosphere was a little "dark" for our taste. The restaurant wasn't well-lit nor was there much light coming in from outside. The décor was what we've seen at most Chinese restaurants, nothing fancy but it works. The food was pretty good, about on par with what we've had at other places. I had the Mango California Roll (which is a new sushi that they were peddling when we got there) and it was pretty good, nothing over the top and nothing to write home about either. The wasabi was excellent... my nostrils are still on fire, as they should be. Krystyn had the Orange Peel Wok. I tried some of it and while tasty, I didn't really find that much "orange" about it. We both split two sides of Crab Wontons and Pork Eggrolls and they were, again, alright. I didn't find anything amazing about this place, nor did I find anything really "wrong" with it either. It's a decent place to get Chinese/Asian food and I'd probably go back again. I think the prices are alright for Eden Prairie standards. The food was fresh and prepared on the spot, which is more than you can say about some Asian restaurants that serve it buffet style. Nothing great, nothing terrible... Pei Wei is just okay.

This is my new "corporate Asian" lunch favorite. If you loath Leann Chin as much as I do, try this. Streamlined menu friendly staff , fast service, and efficient crowd management make this a perfect lunch choice. Food quality is a good value. So far I have tried the pad Thai and the dynamite Thai beef. Both are quite adequate. Affordable fast and tasty. This location is challenging. It's not easy in or easy out but once you figure it out you Got it. Bottom line go for it!

Two trips this week made me a fan. I like the fact that you can order online and it will be ready soon after you arrive. They have many options and will customize a dish for you. Shrimp Pad Thai - they say it is spicy but it just has a slight edge, ask for hotter if you prefer. The 6 shrimp were large and it was a very filling portion. Chicken teriyaki - excellent with brown rice and the teriyaki sauce was terrific. They are the faster food subsidiary of P.F. Changs. Worth a trip if you like Asian food and aren't looking for totally authentic.

I have been a patron of Pei Wei since this location opened, but my most recent two experiences at this location have be second guessing my future return. On both occasions, I was in a group of 2-3 people, and we all ordered our meals together. I was given the number for the order, and went to wait for my meal to arrive. A short time later, everyone received their meal, except for me. Common sense would tell you that the server would notice one person without a meal, and ask what he or she had ordered. This did not happen. On both occasions I had to go over to the cooking line and point out that I had not recieved anything. Both times my order was no where to be seen. I had to tell the cooks what I had ordered. On my most recent visit I watched the confused server walk around the entire restaurant not knowing who to give my order to. I had to wave them down. Now, I love the food, it's always cooked well, and very flavorful...but service is the cornerstone of any business. Neither time did a manager apologize for the inconvenience, or acknowledge that my order was lost. I'm not sure I will return to this location any time soon...it's the old adage of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...shame on me. There are better options in Eden Prairie for asian cuisine.

It's been about three months since I have eaten at a Pei Wei. I was a weekly patron before the one by my house closed. They have changed the menu from the long standing one, and the food quality seems to have suffered. I ordered what was close to my usual, KungPao chicken, and some kids noodle stuff. The chicken was the first thing that jumped out at me, it was no longer the cubes of crispness that I was fond of. It was typical "Chinese takeout" chicken (the odd shaped bits of surprise meat). The old cube chicken was able to be cooked extremely evenly due to its uniformity. This was such a variety of sizes it went from tough to raw in the larger pieces. Yes raw, pink centered chicken. One of the first pieces had some very tough connective parts that were impossible to chew. The kids meals were also the same chicken, and lacked much flavor. The veggies in two of the dishes, as well as the edamame, was the only edible bit served. My brown rice was cold and dry. I understand it isn't super popular, so I often give it a break. The kids Lo-mein was spaghetti and chicken without any vegetables. The green tea was good as usual, and the hot sour soup was a bit bland. I believe that almost any restaurant can have an "off" experience, but the raw chicken is very wrong. I may stick to PF Chang's from now on.

I have been here countless times and regardless of if you are ordering take out or dining in I love that the food is consistent. The portions are huge so I am either left with leftovers or disposing of trash. The chicken pad thai is fantastic! It is the one dish I have eaten that has tofu that is amazing! The seating can be a bit intimidating, but just be patient....you will find a seat...and don't be that guy....take only 1 fortune cookie!

We've eaten here a handful of times and it never gets old. Yes it is not super authentic or anything but it has it's own Asian style. The food is always delicious and we never had bad service. It's more of a quick eating place like a Noodles & Co so don't expect it to be super formal. You also get a good portion for the money. Completely worth it for a quicker meal! I love it, one of my favorites. This location is usually always clean and the staff are friendly. If you don't like your dish, let them know and they will make you something else.

Food is better than LeAnn Chins and Panda. However....those places takes 3 minutes to get you your food. This place on an early Sunday evening? 20 minutes. Unacceptable. It wasn't that busy as the restaurant was half empty.

I had never been to a Pei Wei in my life, but I figured I'd try it out since i had a buy one get one free entree coupon. I went here for dinner with my boyfriend on 2/13/13. We got there and I appreciated that it was a place where you order right there at the counter. There was a paper menu right when you get in line and then a few large boards along the wall to read the menu as well. So this prepares you for when it's finally time to order. The restaurant was pretty busy so it was about a five minute wait in line before ordering. We ordered and sat down at a table. We got our food and I it looked delicious. I ordered the black pepper chicken with white rice. The bf ordered the sesame chicken with white rice. We shared both our entrees and both were so yummy. It was a nice sized portion of both the chicken and the rice. It looked and smelled so good and the taste did not disappoint. It appeared to be freshly made and it tasted that way. I watched a video on the making of the black pepper chicken and I was kind of expecting it to taste like your standard black pepper at home. Soooo not the case. It was great, a little tiny bit spicy, and I loved every bite. The asparagus that came with it was so perfectly cookied and had a great flavor. The sesame chicken was so yummy too and the vegetables (peppers and onions) that came with it were perfectly cooked. Like I said, the place was busy, but we got a good table, the food came quickly, it was delicious, and now I am a Pei Wei customer. I can't wait to go back!

OMG! How I worked 2 blocks from this place for 2 years and never tried it is beyond me. It's basically PF Chang's Express! The food is just like PF Chang, but it costs less and you get it faster. I will be making several return trips there. Be sure to go before 11:30am if you're going for lunch, to avoid the rush. I personally love the Pei Wei Spicy Chicken (same as Chang's Spicy Chicken, except they add carrots, a lot of carrots).

Looking for a restaurant with a little Asian flare? Then you'll like Pei Wei. It's a casual place as you order as you walk. Then you go find your table. I don't like "fast food" and this place might have a little of that feeling but it's a place you can actually sit down and enjoy a glass of wine. You can get your food "quick" if you're in a hurry or sit around for awhile if you want to chat. Decor and atmosphere in the restaurant is also very appealing. Food is always fresh and they have lots of signature dishes. My all time favorite is the Japanese Teriyaki Rice Bowl. It's filled with lots of yummy veggies. You have a choice of 3 different meats but I always order it with chicken. I don't know what they do to the chicken in this dish but "it's to die for". It has a unique blend of seasonings. I much prefer Pei Wei over some of the other Asian places like Lee Ann Chin's. Prices are reasonable. Small dishes start at $2 and they also serve gluten free dishes. Location in EP is a little off the beaten track but people seem to know about this place. They have a special counter just for takeout and you can call ahead or order on line. Try it out and you may soon become a regular.

I thought this place was really good :) we went with my whole family and my mom doesn't like this kinda food or spicy food often but she loved this place. Also the soda machine they have is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen on my whole life!!! You can have any kind of flavor of any soda and juice. Well almost... But u can mix like raspberry and vanilla sprite.!! Vanilla sprite??? Yeah, it's so cool!!!!!!!

Above average Chinese lunch. The location is good, near the Eden Prairie Center but not in a busy parking lot. The location can be a bit of a challenge to get to and you might have to do a U-turn to make it. The restaurant is clean, updated, and very nice inside. The lighting is dim, and the back wall is usually lit up with the cooks grilling. The crowd is usually business casual over lunch, and dies down considerably after that. I usually get the Thai Dynamite dish, and it is always excellent. For a while they were giving out free drinks while you waited for carry out orders, but it seems as though recently they discontinued this. They cook each order as you place it, so it is always hot and fresh. They have quite a few options, with your choice of meat, shrimp, or tofu accompanied by veggies or noodles. I particularly enjoy the brown rice side dish. Overall, the quality and taste is above Lee Ann Chin, and the price isn't bad at all. I've converted quite a few people into Pei Wei diners over the past year or so.

I have eaten at Pei Wei a number of times in the past and found their food to be very good. Today I stopped in and tried the Mongolian "Steak". So disappointed ! The "steak" was dried out and very tough. It was actually closer to a chewy form of beef jerky ! In the future I will stick with chicken and stay away from the "steak".

After hearing such great things about this place from several friends, I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed by my visit. My husband is currently in a wheelchair, and the electronic menu boards at the counter were too high for him to read. When we pointed this out to the person behind the counter and asked for a hard copy of the menu, he seemed annoyed with us and pointed to a menu holder where I could go retrieve one. The paper menus don't have any prices printed on them, which wasn't a huge problem since I was able to read them off the electronic menus, but it could be a problem for others like my husband who don't always have someone else with them. I ordered Garlic Broccoli with tofu and my husband ordered some spicy beef dish. I was pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes: I felt like we got a lot for what we paid (we both had left-overs for the next day). However, both dishes were a little bit bland. They could definitely use some more spices to liven up the dishes! It wasn't the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it certainly wasn't the worst, either. The second major problem we had was when we tried to leave the restaurant. All of the tables are so close together that it's hard for someone who is able to walk to get around all the chairs. It is nearly impossible for someone in a wheelchair to get out! We actually had to ask people to get up and move their chairs so we could leave. This restaurant is definitely not wheelchair friendly, but we will probably be back again after my husband is able to walk. I don't think this will be our regular Chinese food joint, though... it's more of a place we're likely to visit if we happen to be in that neighborhood and just happen to be hungry for some Asian food.

This is PF Chang Lite. Good Chinese Fast food, albeit a little too salty. Efficient service. Low Diner type prices in a friendly setting. It makes for a nice lunch place and it's always very busy and loud but they are good about getting you place to sit. Dinner time is quieter. Kids love the noodles on their menu which is the reason many families are here for dinner or do take out. It's not the most healthy food but better than some other lunch time choices and a great option if you want Chinese. Their Caramel Chicken was really nice, now replaced by another creation. The Pad Thai is good. Kung Pao is a little too salty here for my taste. Overall I love the place for it's fast turnaround and tasty, inexpensive food.

We enjoy eating in as well as getting takeout. They have a good mix of Asian food at reasonable prices. The only downfall is it can get pretty crowded during lunch and dinner time.

We've eaten at Pei Wei since it opened and still aren't sick of it. Atmosphere is casual and the food is solid. I love the Honey Seared Crispy Chicken and my husband always gets the Chicken Pad Thai. The lettuce wraps are a good starter and they recently started offering egg rolls which are highly recommended. It can get busy in the evenings but table turnover is pretty quick.

My wife and I asked our friends to pick a restaurant to meet at and they chose a new one for us, Pei Wei in Eden Prairie. Owned by P.F. Chang. I think we ordered our food and sat down and even though it was busy, we had our food within 5 or 6 minutes. The restaurant is kind of small, but the show of the chefs cooking dinners in the woks with flames shooting all around was pretty cool. I ordered the Pei Wei Spicy Chicken Salad. The chicken had a nice wok fried glaze around it and lots of dressing and I had chicken in almost every bite. The spicy flavor bit the back of your toungue, but not so much where I needed a sip of diet coke with each bite. My wife got the Japanese Teriyaki bowl with shrimp. She said it was awesome and would have more in the future. Our friends had a baby and the service team accomodated us just fine, even though it was busy. The service was more than fantastic and my wife said she would go there again in a heart beat. She asked for no seasame seeds and none were found, so she was a happy camper. My friends both loved their dishes as well. Next time I try the tea, I am sorry I didn't order it this time. Everyone in the restaurant had a smile on their face it seemed like, a great meal to end a busy work week.

This was definitely a business lunch place when I was here! I saw 1 child and 2 white haired ladies while everyone else was in business/business casual. Nice atmosphere with many options to read the menu on the electronic board while in line. I appreciated that there were descriptions below the choice so you knew what was in it. My food came extremely fast and was brough directly to the table. I tried the wontons and was impressed that they were more meat than cream cheese. I also had the sweet and sour chicken because I'm not a huge fan of Asian flavors. My food was very hot and came with brown rice as ordered. There was enough for 2 mealsor to share and I think my total bill with drink was around $10-$12.

Pei Wei is the perfect option for an Asian fix! If you love P.F. Chang, you'll love Pei Wei as they are owned by PF Chang. There is similar decor and menu items at Pei Wei. The fast casual dining style you would find at Panera or Noodles & Co is how Pei Wei operates; you place your order at the entrance of the restaurant, find your own table and your food is brought to you. There is adequate seating inside and a great patio outside for Summer dining. The prices are great as well! Edemame for under $3, a lettuce wrap appetizer for $7 and meals between $6-8! Prices like that make Pei Wei the perfect spot for a cheap date night. Pei Wei also serves a variety of beer and wine; Asian favorite and a few American classics, fountain soda and chai tea in big containers. They also serve vegetarian + tofu entrees, which is a huge plus! Take-Out Hint - when ordering food to-go, don't order a beverage! You are offered a complimentary beverage while you wait!

funny, because i HATE p.f. changs but this place i'm ok with. I have almost always had the Asian Chopped Salad (sub shrimp instead of chicken) There is an excellent mix of greens to really mix up the flavors and they add crispy wonton strips, carrots and mint. The dressing is lite but they put it on heavily so i will sometimes ask for it on the side. And its really low in calories! :) Little spendy for lunch so i go every so often (about $10 for salad w/ shrimp and drink) I've tasted the fire-cracker noodles and they were way hot!!! I've also heard that their sweet-n-sour soup is hearty and stew like. And they have out door seating! Though for some reason every time it rains this place is packed, still not sure why. Does rain make people crave knock-off chinese food?

I returned to Pei Wei with a group from work the other day and tried the Asian Chopped Salad which, I'm going to go out on a limb and say, wasn't very Asian, but it was a pretty darned good salad either way. The ingredients were all fresh and crisp. The vinaigrette dressing was light and tasty. The chicken was tender and savory. It's a solid choice for someone looking for something a little lighter and subtle when compared to the other stuff on the Pei Wei menu, which can be more on the oily and saucy side.

Excellent food for the price. It isn't PF Chang's but close for half the cost. Easy in and out with kids. Our family goes a few times a month and it's always consistent. Give it a try yourself before reading ornery reviews from upset customers.

My iPad is now stuck to the table... gross!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
